• Nghiên cứu các chất có hoạt tính sinh học như kháng sinh, oxi hóa... có nguồn gốc thiên nhiên từ thực vật và sinh vật biển từ đó định hướng khai thác hiệu quả cũng như bảo tồn nguồn tài nguyên thực vật.
• Nghiên cứu phát triển sản phẩm từ vi sinh vật và các nguồn sinh vật khác thành các sản phẩm phục vụ đời sống: như thực phẩm bảo vệ sức khỏe, mỹ phẩm, các tá chất cho dược phẩm và các sản phẩm trong nông nghiệp và bảo vệ môi trường.
